Vanilla Caramels

2 2/3 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups Blue Label (dark) Karo
1 1/3 sticks butter
1 can Eagle Brand Condensed milk
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup chopped nuts


Bring to a boil the first 3 ingredients. Slowly add 1 can condensed milk, stirring until mixed. Cook to a firm ball (245 degrees). Remove from heat and add 1 cupo chopped nuts and 1 1/2 tsp vanilla. Pour into buttered 9 x 12 pan. Cool completely . Cut and wrap in waxed paper.

Makes 75 – 85 pieces
